Baleno Challenging Premium Hatchback From Tata Motors to be Showcased at the Auto Expo

New Premium Hatchback From Tata Motors, to Rival Maruti Suzuki Baleno

Homegrown automaker Tata Motors is all set to unveil a concept product at the upcoming 2018 auto expo which is scheduled to take place next month. According to the report, the carmaker has codenamed the Baleno-challenging premium hatchback – X451. It has also been reported that the automaker will be showcasing the premium hatchback at the 2018 Auto Expo in Delhi.

Tata Motors had been testing the premium hatchback codenamed X451 for last couple of months which will be showcased at the 2018 Indian Auto Expo. It is being speculated that the new premium hatchback will be the most expensive hatchback in the product lineup currently sold by Tata Motors in India. The new hatchback will challenge the segment leader Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the other contender in the segment, the Hyundai Elite i20.

The new premium hatchback code-named – X451 will be the first car from Tata Motors which will be based on the Advanced Modular Platform (AMP). The car will use the same engine that currently powers the Tata Tiago.

It is expected that the new premium hatchback will also get both petrol and diesel option. While the petrol variant will get 1.2-litre engine, the diesel variant is likely to get the 3 cylinder turbocharged 1.05-liter unit. While the petrol engine will produce 84 Bhp and 115 Nm of peak torque the diesel variant is expected to be tuned to produce more power and torque than the current diesel Tiago.  Both the powertrains will come mated to 5-speed manual gearboxes but it is being speculated that the automaker may offer automatic gearbox as well in the new hatchback.

Features and specifications of the new hatchback from Tata

The new premium hatchback from Tata, codenamed- X451 will feature a fresh design. The new car which is most likely to be showcased at the 2018 auto expo is expected to be a close production version. The hot hatchback from Tata Motors will directly rival the Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS and the Volkswagen Polo GT twins.

There is a chance that Tata may introduce the more powerful turbocharged engines in both the petrol as well as the diesel variant of the new car. It may also mate the engine to a 6-speed manual gearbox to deploy high-performance.
