Chandigarh Weather | City Beautiful sees the coldest day of the season at 13 degrees

Chandigarh witnessed the coldest day of the season as the temperature declined to the lowest till date on Friday. At 13 degree Celsius, the Chandigarh temperature was recorded nine degrees below the normal and just a degree lower than the temperature recorded on the previous day.  The temperature in the city beautiful has been declining this week since this season’s first rain shower on Monday. Chandigarh temperature has declined by 13 degrees in the past five days.

The night temperature kept increasing during this week due to cloud cover but declined to 10.5-degree Celsius on Friday. The city’s meteorological department told that there will be little or no change in Chandigarh weather for the next one day period. However, Chandigarh weather will improve in the next 48 hours, fog will disappear and the temperature will rise by few degrees.

Two flights Cancelled due to Fog and Bad Chandigarh Weather

As the fog continues for the third day, the rail and air services were disrupted due to low visibility in Chandigarh weather. Spicejet’s Chandigarh to Delhi flight and Air India’s Chandigarh to Delhi flight were canceled and five other flights were delayed due to low visibility.

The Chandigarh International Airport is still not featured with contemporary Instrument Landing System (ILS) which helps the flights to make a landing in low visibility conditions. The Airport has a basic landing system which does not allow the flights to land if the visibility is less than 1000 metres. Chandigarh Airport is also closed early due to runway expansion, which adds to the problem. Air India has suspended its Chandigarh to Delhi early morning flight at 7:30 am.

Five Flights delayed due to low visibility in Chandigarh

Some flights were also delayed due to low visibility and bad Chandigarh weather including the Indigo’s Chandigarh to Delhi flight that took off half an hour later than its scheduled time 8:30 am. Another flight of Air India from Delhi to Pune also took off two hours late than the scheduled time. The trains to Chandigarh were also affected due to bad weather in the city including the Una Delhi Jan Shatabdi and New Delhi Kalka Shatabdi Express. As per the Chandigarh weather department forecasts, there will be moderate fog on Saturday morning and evening.
