Google Pixel 2 XL Display Issues to be Solved with Software Update, Google Extends Warranty to 2 Years

Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones have widely been hailed as an outstanding flagship device based on early reviews. With a perfect hardware, awesome software with smart AI functionalities cooked into one device, the device was considered to be the topmost choice in its price segment. But due to the recent reports, the perfect handset by Google is facing allegations for having an imperfection. With issues related to displaying screen floating over the internet, users have complained about the dull colors and screen burn-in on the Pixel 2 XL’s OLED display. To solve the problem, Google has promised its users that soon a software update will be released consulting the display issues faced worldwide. Google has also promised that the premium handsets will now carry a two-year warranty which can be claimed worldwide.

The Google Pixel smartphones have been acknowledged by various critics for their beautiful OLED displays and highest rated smartphone cameras. There has been also feedback about the Pixel 2 XL displays for not appearing as vibrant as the other smartphones. A number of reports of differential aging on the Pixel 2 XL’s OLED screen will also be taken care of, in the next software update as promised by Google.

Google’s retail partners will start taking pre-orders from tonight and the phones will also be available for sale on e-commerce giant, Flipkart.  As a part of master promotion plan, Indian users will also get free wireless earphones from Sennheiser worth Rs. 11,990 free with each Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL order. Other offers include a cashback of Rs. 8000 if they use an EMI on HDFC Card to buy the Pixel 2 or the Pixel 2 XL phone.

It is interesting to note that the same issues have not been reported with the Google Pixel, which is the smaller Pixel phone manufactured by HTC even though the phone also uses an OLED panel. Considering the facts that came out from the information that surfaced online, the OLED panel in the HTC made Pixel 2 is supplied by Samsung whereas the OLED panel in the LG-made Pixel 2 XL comes from LG. However, it is still unclear if the issues in the smartphones by Google is due to actual burn-in or image retention.
