In order to uplift the children from the rural areas of India educationally the Indira Gandhi National Open University(IGNOU) has established five new study centres. The centres are located in the districts of Wardha, Nagpur and Yavatmal.
The regional director of IGNOU P. Sivaswaroop has told that out of the five centres three are created in the remote places of Kurkheda in Gadchiroli, Wayfad in Wardha and Pandarkawda in Yavatmal. Rest of the two are in educational institutes of Nagpur area namely Hislop College and Sevadal Mahila Mahavidyalaya.
The IGNOU Rural Study Centres-Mission
The main goal of developing educational centres in rural areas of India is to provide services to deprived children from whom good education is still a dream.
Through the IGNOU rural educational centres:
- The institute would serve both young and elder people from rural backgrounds
- The centres would be easily accessible for everyone in the backward areas
- Transportation will not remain a big issue anymore for those looking to gain knowledge
Other Developments Made By IGNOU
Further On IGNOU has made more developments in its Nagpur colleges where the University will now be offering many more choice of courses. Like:
- PG Diploma in Advanced Statistics
- MA in Philosophy
- PG Diploma in Analytics Chemistry
- Certificate in Hindustani Music
The new courses will open up various opportunities for the students and increase their potential in jobs.
Sivaswaroop also informed that IGNOU has made the admissions for all of its distance education courses digitized. The candidates can now apply for courses like diploma, certificate, PG Diploma, BA Degree and PG Degree Programmes online starting from July 2017.
To apply for any of the courses students need to upload the following:
- Scanned copies of their eligibility certificate
- A colored passport size photo
- Candidates signature
The candidates can pay the fee easily online for their respective courses through debit or credit card. IGNOU will them send an instant acknowledgement letter online. The tangible study material and ID card will be sent through speed post.
The Kendriya Vidyalayas from now on will be IGNOU’s exam centres.
