The campus placements at IIT Kharagpur witnessed a robust start with more than 300 students placed in the first two days of placement drive. The American tech giant Apple Inc. made its debut on Friday by hiring five students for its Bengaluru branch office. Many other Multinational Companies like HSBC, IBM Research, American Express, JP Morgan, Airbus, Schlumberger, Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs and Microsoft visited IIT Kharagpur for placements.
188 Hired on First Day of IIT Kharagpur Placements
Halma plc, a UK based group of tech companies that manufactures hazard detection products visited for the first time at IIT Kharagpur placements. Mercari Japan Ltd and Dubai based Dunia Finance also visited IIT Kharagpur for the first time. A total of 188 students were hired on the first day of IIT Kharagpur placements, out of which 22 were placed for overseas jobs.
A total of 29 companies visited the IIT Kharagpur campus on the first day of placements. American Express, HSBC, Flipkart, JP Morgan, IBM Research, Airbus, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, ITC, and Uber were among the 29 companies that visited for placements on the first day.
Software and Data Analytics Jobs in IIT Kharagpur Placements
Adobe, Bajaj, Konica Minolta, LG Korea, Ola, Deloitte, and Walmart visit the IIT Kharagpur on the second day of placements and hired 147 students out of which 8 were hired for overseas positions. Debasis Deb, the chairman of career Development said that Software and Data Analytics are the two booming industries this year as many of the students are placed in these fields. He added, that we are happy with the response received by our students in this recruitment season.
The Career Development Centre at IIT Kharagpur has taken measures to strengthen the relationships between the institute and industry. Deb added that the Centre has tried to explore the avenues to engage with the industry beyond placements. Students went for internships to gain experience and learn at engineering workshops.
The Indian Institute of Technology, Madras also received a good response on the first day of placements. A total of 195 students were placed on the first day of placements with most of them placed in the analytics, consulting and finance sectors. Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, and Samsung Research were among the companies that visited the IIT Madras for hirings on the first day of placements.
