MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Rohit Sharma, David Warner, were among the best players held by their individual franchises at the Indian Premier League (IPL) Retention held in Mumbai on Thursday. The IPL Retention was the initial move towards the establishments modifying their squads for the 2018 IPL in front of the auction to be held on 27 and 28 January in Bengaluru where whatever is left of the players will come back to the pool. The retention lead enabled establishments to hold a greatest of five players by means of a blend of player retention in front of the auction of players.
IPL 2018 Retention
Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, Delhi DareDevils and Royal Challengers Bangalore retains their 3 players each – Dhoni, Suresh Raina and Ravinder Jadeja for CSK, Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya and Bumrah for Mumbai Indians, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Sarfaraz Khan for RCB and Shreyas Iyer, Rishab Pant, Chris Morris for Delhi Dae Devils.
Rajasthan Royals & Kings XI Punjab only retains 1 player each. Axar Patel in Kings XI Punjabi and Steve Smith in Rajasthan Royals. Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad retain only 2 players each. Sunil Narine, Andre Russell in KKR and Sunil Narine, Andre Russell in Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Surprisingly, KKR didn’t select Gautam Gambhir in the retention, Dwayne Bravo not selected by CSK in the retention. But the IPL 2018 franchise still have to option to bring them back to the team via RTM card.
Krunal Pandya might be retained by Mumbai Indians for IPL 2018 via RTM card. Since Krunal played a crucial role in the last season of IPL so, it is expected that the Mumbai Indians will retain the player. Chriss Lynn was also missed out along with Gautam Gambhir in the retention. The mega-auction of the IPL 2018 will be held on 27 and 28 January in Bangalore and rest of the players will be selected there.
