Mahindra KUV 100 Electric Could Be Priced North Of 11 Lakhs In India

Mahindra KUV 100 will come with a huge price tag which is not very shocking since even the e2o Plus which is half the size of KUV sells for 7.5 Lakhs in India

Mahindra KUV 100 Electric had been teased time and again but we finally got to see the car in full flesh at the Auto Expo 2018 in Noida. Mahindra and Tata have been on the forefront when it comes to electric cars in India and already have a couple of products in their portfolio. However, none of the Tata products are available for purchase to the public while Mahindra already sells the e2O Plus, and the e-Verito for a while now. The electric variants of the Mahindra KUV 100 and the Scorpio SUV are supposedly going to be the focus for the company as Indian Government emphasises on alternate fuels.

Mahindra KUV 100 Electric Features and Performance

The Mahindra KUV 100 has been quite a revolutionary car for the home grown automaker. The micro SUV has already established in a segment which primarily consists of hatchbacks. It made total sense for Mahindra to bring an electric variant of the KUV 100 as it has ample space on the inside and could easily be picked up as a family car compared to the e2o Plus.

The electric Mahindra KUV 100 which was displayed at the Auto Expo borrowed its mechanicals from the e-Verito compact sedan. It came with a 40Bhp electric motor that had a range of up to 140 kilometres on a single charge. Fast charging option available could get you 80% juice in a mere 90 minutes. However, the production variant is rumoured to come with a much more powerful motor that would have a range of a respectable 350 kilometres. The motor on the Mahindra KUV 100 will take the car from 0-100 in around 9 seconds and the top speed is expected to be close to 186 kilometres per hour.

Mahindra is also making sure that the KUV 100 electric gets some first in class features like cabin precooling, location tracking, and even remote diagnostics. The rest of the car remains same like the petrol and diesel powered vehicle on sale in India. The Mahindra KUV 100 will be the most premium electric offering in the Mahindra line up.

Mahindra eKUV 100 electric Price India and Launch Date

Mahindra is expected to launch the KUV 100 electric sometime in 2019. We do not expect it to be a bestseller but it will definitely be a game changer in the Indian market. There is little to no infrastructure for electric charging the vehicles in our country as of now and it will be a challenge for Mahindra to sell the product in a situation like that.

Expect the Mahindra KUV 100 Electric Price India to be close to 11-12 Lakh Rupees. The electric vehicles that are coming your way are not expected to be cheap. Even Maruti officials have suggested that the electric vehicles are not easy to be priced competitively at first but it could all change somewhere 5-6 years down the line. The Mahindra e-KUV 100 pricing should not come as a surprise since even the e20 Plus hatchback which is half the size of the KUV sells for 7.5 Lakhs in India and also comes with an inferior performance package.
