National Law University (NLU) Odisha to Offer 25% Reservation to Local Students

The Chief Minister of Odisha has approved the proposal for reservation of 25 percent seats for local students in the National Law University, (NLU) Cuttack. Students seeking admission in the National Law University, Odisha will be benefitted by the move, as said in a statement by the Chief Minister’s Office. Six National Law Universities in other states of the country already have the reservation for local students, but the same was not available in the Odisha. The move will benefit the local students of Odisha seeking admission to law courses.

Who will be eligible for Reservation at National Law University Odisha

Only Students who are residents of Odisha, and have secured at least 60 percent aggregate marks in Class XII examination will be eligible for reservation in admissions to National Law University (NLU) Cuttack. Students and parents from Odisha have been demanding the reservation for local students for a long time as it is already applicable in six other National Law Universities.

Admission to NLU Odisha through AILET 2018

A few weeks ago the National Law University, Delhi had issued a circular for the All India National Law Entrance Test (AILET) to be conducted on May 6, 2018. The AILET 2018 will be conducted from 3 pm to 4 pm at various test centres across the country. Every year AILET is conducted by one of the National Law Universities for admission to five years integrated BA-LLB, one year LLM and Ph.D. courses. This year AILET will be conducted by the National Law University, New Delhi.

The National Law University Delhi will make the application forms available on its official website in January 2018 first week. Candidates will be able to apply online for AILET 2018 on the NLU Delhi official website from the first week of January. The Admit cards for ALIET 2018 will be released on the official website in the second week of April.  AILET 2018 results will be announced in May for BA-LLB aspirants and in July for LL.M. and Ph.D. aspirants. Thousands of students apply for AILET every year for admission to five year BA-LLB course. The admissions to BA-LLB, LLM and Ph.D. courses will be made on the basis of merit in the AILET 2018 examination.
