Forest Hill Resort
One of the lesser known places in Chandigarh for a date, Forest Hill Resort is located in the Nayagaon vicinity approximately 5 kilometres from the PGI hospital. The place is a refreshing change compared to the cramped establishments inside the city. Think of it as going up hills to Kasauli or Morni without driving for two to three hours. The place is so huge that you have to drive your car to your rooms from the reception and we’re not joking. Sukhna Lake, Chandigarh
Okay we agree you knew this place already but not to add Sukhna Lake in the list of most romantic places in Chandigarh is a sin and we don’t know if we are ready to do that. Created in 1958 by Le Corbusier and the Chief Engineer P L Verma, the lake is sacred to the people of Chandigarh. The lake has a little bit of everything for everyone and is the go to destination for leisure time. The other places on the list just feel short when compared to the Sukhna Lake when it comes to romance. It is the perfect location for watching the sun go down in your lover’s arms. The Garden of Silence at the end of the lake is another perfect place for couples in Chandigarh where you can spend some quality time.
Willow Cafe
The only cafe on the list, the Willow Cafe in Sector 10 on the famous Geri route redefines romance altogether. The bluish theme of the place feels easy on the eyes and adds a certain character to it. In what resembles a small house perhaps this cafe is set up in two floors. Make sure that you ask for the tables on the open air terrace on the first floor which are ideal for a brunch or lunch date with your loved one. The place has an old school charm which adds to the specialness of your date. The Keema Bunn and Apple Pie along with their divine Coffee are a few things that we have come to love and should be on your list as well. Leisure Valley
Another characteristic place that defines the romance of the Chandigarh city is the Leisure Valley. A collection of gardens that stretch over eight kilometres from Sector 1 to Sector 53 in the southern part of the city, the Leisure Valley is one of the best suited placed for couples in Chandigarh. Although the various themed gardens in the entire stretch like Bougainvillea Garden in Sector 3, Rose Garden in Sector 16, and Fragrance Garden in Sector 36 are a part of it on paper but it is actually the Fitness Trails in Sector 10-B which are generally spoken of when the term Leisure Valley is mentioned. Keeping in mind the surroundings and the quiet atmosphere the whole place screams romance when you want to have a conversation with your loved one.
These are Chandigarh Metro’s picks for the best places in Chandigarh for a date but we have to agree that we did miss out on some major ones too. The Rock Garden adjoining the Sukhna Lake is one such honourable mention which is popular among the couples for a date in Chandigarh. The Rose Garden in Sector 16 too is a favourite among the couples and the footfall increases at the time of the famous rose festival which is held annually here. The only reason we gave these places a miss was that they are already pretty famous when it comes to Romantic places in Chandigarh and we wanted to pitch some different ones to you.
