Punjab has been in the news since the Congress Government came into power. The Punjab police have withdrawn 800 personnel deployed with VIPs, including politicians. The security cover provided to various protectees in the state is still under review.
A senior Punjab police official said that 800 police personnel have been withdrawn from various protectees. He also said that the security has been reviewed on the basis of threat perception, intelligence, and norms.
Z Plus and Y Plus Security
The senior pollice official said that people who are given “Z plus” and “Y plus” will continue to have the security cover. He also mentioned that fresh threat perception reports which are a part of security review exercise are also being prepared for various individuals.
As per him a lot of political leaders have also come under the radar who were enjoying police security more than the prescribed norms when SAD-BJP government was in power which was led by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.
Strict Congress Government In Punjab
We know that Congress Government has already started working in Punjab for the betterment of Punjab and people of Punjab. The people of Punjab would definitely be delighted seeing the Congress Government’s efforts to make Punjab a better place.
Captain Amarinder Singh’s Congress Government has made sure that they will end the VIP culture in Punjab. The Congress Government will also make sure to end the unnecessary security cover which many politicians use as a status symbol.
DGP (Director General of Police) Suresh Arora constituted an SLRC (State Level Review Committee) after Amarinder Singh’s Congress Government came into power in Punjab. The SLRC was constituted under the chairmanship of Hardeep Singh Dhillon, DGP (Law and Order) to review the security which is provided to the protectees by the state police. The committee has made it mandatory to review the security which is provided to officers, private individuals or constitutional functionaries.
