Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio is into a golden period. Everything has been falling in the favour of Jio be it customers or be it the decision by ASCI.

Reliance Jio’s Complaint Against Bharti Airtel

Reliance Jio filed a complaint against Bharti Airtel last week. Bharti Airtel had been claiming that they are the fastest mobile internet carrier in India. Reliance Jio mentioned in their complaint that the title given to the Airtel was false and incorrect. The title was awarded to Airtel by Ookla 2016 Awards held on February 24.

Airtel’s claim has been grounded by the ASCI (Advertising Standards Council Of India) as the title awarded to Airtel was misleading and false. Airtel has been asked by the ASCI to modify the advertising or to withdraw it by 11th April 2017.

Ookla Said Airtel is Fastest

ASCI (Advertising Standards Council Of India) said that the FTCC (Fast Track Complaints Committee) has also considered the term “officially” to be false and misleading. This is because the speed test is not based or recognized by any government organisation such as TRAI. This false and misleading advertisement exploit the viewer’s lack of knowledge.

Reliance Jio also claimed that Ookla, owner of Speedtest charges money for giving a false title and awards. They claimed that Jio was also approached by Ookla for the very same quarter when the title of fastest mobile network was given to Bharti Airtel.

Reliance Jio believes that Jio is the fastest network in India!

Bharti Airtel’s Statement

Bharti Airtel gave a statement saying that they agree with ASCI’S decision. They also said that they will be filing an appeal. They said that Ookla is a globally recognised leader in mobile speed tests. They said that they have shared all the supporting facts and documents with ASCI and will be happy to provide more details and documents with ASCI wants. They said that they are hoping that ASCI will reconsider its decision.

Ookla’s Statement

Ookla also gave a solid statement stating that their methods of speed testing are accurate and the title of “India’s Fastest Mobile Network” given to Airtel is not false and misleading. The award given to Airtel was validated using the IP methods. They said that Airtel was a mobile network leader in the year 2016 and Airtel is still a leader.
