It has already been reported that WhatsApp, the largest used messaging app, will stop working on several smartphones from January 1, 2018 but the latest notification that it will also stop working on several Android-based smartphones as well has become a reason of anxiety among the mobile phone users.

This is why WhatsApp will stop working on some of the smartphones

While WhatsApp will work absolutely normal on more than 99 per cent of the phones, it will stop working on several smartphones after December 31, 2017. As per the report, smartphones that will get affected by the change are mere 1 per cent of the total mobile phone users across the globe.
The reason, why WhatsApp is being discontinued on several smartphones is that the platforms on which these smartphones work are either out-of-date or the phones have a very negligible number of users.

WhatsApp updates were discontinued for different smartphones that worked on different operating platforms including iOS, Windows and Android. As per the report, the updates were stopped in 2016 on iOS 6, Windows Phone 7, Android 2.1 and 2.2.
