Here’s The Reason Why Sridevi Refused The Role of Sivagami in Bahubali 2

Sridevi was SS Rajamouli’s first choice to act as Sivagami in Bahubali 2 and its previous part. But she turned down the offer and worked in another Tamil film, Puli, instead.

The speculations began to rife that the actress rejected the offer for the magnum opus, Bahubali 2 as she doesn’t want to play the role of a mother. Well, the reality behind Sridevi’s turning down the proposal is something different. Read on to know why did the actress, Sridevi did not act in the movie Bahubali 2.

Reason behind Sridevi’s refusal to Bahubali 2

As per the sources, Sridevi rejected the proposal of playing the character of Sivagami in Bahubali 2 because of her husband, Boney Kapoor. Yes, the producer- director husband of Sridevi, Boney Kapoor had demanded hefty amount as fee from the filmmakers of Bahubali 2 for his wife to act in the film. And this wasn’t all, he even demanded his net share in the revenue of the Baahubali series. Disturbed by the staggering demands of Boney Kapoor, SS Rajamouli decided to cast Ramya Krishna for the role of Sivagami and his decision paid off.

The filmmakers of Baahubali were of the opinion that Sridevi’s husband Boney Kapoor was planning to fetch money from his wife’s profession. That is the reason why after turning down the Baahubali’s offer, he made her do the Tamil film Puli, whose filmmakers agreed on to pay the amount that Kapoor demanded.

Industry mates too criticized Sridevi for not doing Baahubali 2

In fact, Sridevi and her husband Boney Kapoor’s decision to reject Baahubali was criticized by many from the industry itself. The director, Ram Gopal Varma even made the actress feel worse by writing on the social media that Sridevi would have got more credits by acting in the Baahubali series after her comeback movie, English Vinglish.

Well, we can’t comment on whether the actress, Sridevi had made the right decision or not by leaving Bahubali 2 but we now believe that no one else other than Ramya could play the character of Sivagami in the record-breaking Baahubali 1 and 2. She carried on the character very well and did full justice as Sivagami.
