GMAT 2017 Exam Pattern & Options Changed | Here’s All That You Need to Know

Appearing for Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) will be easier from this year now, as Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) who conducts GMAT has decided to introduce Select Section Order (SSO) as an option to select the section first whichever the candidates find less tough to attempt. The council has announced this flexibility in choosing the section of GMAT 2017 in order to make the candidates more comfortable ad stress free while writing in for the paper.

Highlights of GMAT 2017 Select Section Order (SSO)

Preparing for any management aptitude test is a very tedious job as its studies exhaust your brain fully. The GMAT paper also constitutes of analytical, reasoning, verbal and quantitative tests that derive your GMAT scores for seeking admission in management schools located overseas.

Now after the launch of SSO, candidates need not have to select the options well in advance. Candidates appearing for GMAT 2017 will have to just go to the examination centre and pick up any out of the three options that he/she finds easier to attempt. The council conducting GMAT every year has officially released the three options on its website.

Option 1

The option 1 has similar structure as before

  • Analytical Writing Assessment
  • Integrated Reasoning
  • Quantitative
  • Verbal

Option 2

Verbal section will be first in option 2

  • Verbal
  • Quantitative
  • Integrated Reasoning
  • Analytical Writing Assessment

Option 3

In option 3, candidates will have to attempt quantitative section first

  • Quantitative
  • Verbal
  • Integrated Reasoning
  • Analytical Writing Assessment

Select Section Order (SSO) will have positive affect on GMAT scores

The newly launched SSO by GMAC will have huge affect on the GMAT 2017 scores and that too in a positive way. As per the council’s report, conducting tests with flexible options will help candidate to maintain quality GMAT scores. Candidates exhaust a lot of mental energy in their verbal section due to which candidates end up running out of time. And in this way candidates spend a lot of their brain procession power in the first few hours of the test.

Fortunately, candidates can perform well in their GMAT 2017 now and attempt the paper according to their preference of section which they would like to write first.
