Salaries of All Haryana Ministers Increased By 20% & Here’s How Much Do They Earn

The ministers of Haryana would be happy as a 20% hike has been announced in their pay. Amendment Bills have been passed by The Haryana Assembly today. The amendment bills were passed to increase the salaries of Deputy Speaker, Speaker, Ministers and the Leader of opposition.

The salaries will be increased by 20% and the office allowances will be increased 10 times. Manohar Lal Khattar, the chief minister of Haryana said that the government will make sure to increase the pensions of former MLAs as the cost of living is rising. Karan Singh Dalal of Congress and Jai Prakash (Independent) had raised this demand of increasing the salaries of the ministers of Haryana.

Increase In Salaries Of Haryana Ministers 

Amendment bills have been passed to increase the salaries and allowances of Haryana ministers. The salary of the Haryana ministers has been increased from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 60,000 per month. The office allowances of the ministers are also increased 10 times from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 20,000.

The salary of the leader of the opposition has also been increased under the Haryana Legislative Assembly Amendment Bill, 2017, from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 60,000 per month.

Increase In The Salaries Of Speaker, Deputy Speaker and MLAs

Haryana Legislative Assembly Speaker and Deputy Speaker’s salaries were also increased. The salaries of both Speaker and Deputy Speaker have been increased to Rs. 60,000 from Rs. 50,000 per month. Their office allowances have also been increased 10 times. The office allowances earlier were Rs. 2,000 and now they have been increased to Rs. 20,000.

Their salaries were raised from Rs. 40,000 to Rs. 50,000 four years ago on September 11, 2013, during the Hooda regime.

Apart from a hike in salaries of Speaker and Deputy Speaker, the salaries of MLAs were also increased last year during the last monsoon session of the assembly on August 31, 2016, from Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 40,000 per month. The perks MLAs got were:

  • Constituency allowance doubled ( Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 60,000 per month)
  • Office allowance increased (Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 25,000 per month)
  • Sumptuary allowance increased (Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 10,000 per month)
  • Daily allowance increased (Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,000 for maximum 15 days in a month)
  • Free travelling facility increased (Rs. 2 Lakh to Rs. 3 Lakh per annum)
