As per reports, the Japanese automaker Honda, betting on the increasing popularity of premium cars in India, is likely to re-launch the premium sedan – Honda Civic in India.
Before getting discontinued, Honda Civic was one of the popular sedans in India. In the absence of a diesel variant, the demand for the car started declining that gradually led to the discontinuation of the Civic model from Honda. With the launch of the premium sedan from Honda – the Civic, expected in India soon, here are some of the interesting facts about the upcoming next-gen Honda Civic that you would want to know.
Next-Gen Honda Civic to make way to India soon
The new Honda Civic will be offered not just with exciting new features, but with new engine options as well. It is believed that Honda will use ultra-high-strength steel in the Civic production line and the next-gen premium sedan is also expected to be lighter than the last generation model that was previously sold in India.
Under the hood of New Honda Civic
While the Honda Civic comes with a 1.5 litre turbocharged petrol engine in the international market but it is likely that in India, Honda might launch the premium sedan in both diesel and petrol option. While the petrol engine might come with different state of tune, it may offer a 1.6 litre diesel unit in the Honda Civic. Both the engines are expected to come mated to a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic gearbox.

As per the reports, the new Honda Civic will be new from most of the aspects it will be offered with advanced and more attractive features than previous generation model. The new Honda Civic is expected to get a ‘smiling’ front fascia merged with a thick chrome slat.
One of the most attractive features of the new Honda Civic is the outstanding notchback, in which the boot leans-on the roof line. It doesn’t appear as a different part of the car. The premium sedan comes with all-new LED headlamps with LED Daytime Running Lamps, redesigned front and rear bumper, new alloy wheel design, dual-tone ORVMs, sunroof and comes, fog lamps mounted on the front bumper.
Interior, safety and price of the new Honda Civic
It is speculated that the India-bound Honda Civic may be offered in an all-black interior theme. The car may come with premium features including steering wheel mounted audio and cruise control, leather seat upholstery, multi-way adjustable driver seat, touchscreen infotainment system and automatic temperature control. The infotainment system is likely to come equipped with Bluetooth, Android Auto, navigation and Apple CarPlay.
On the safety front, the Honda Civic may come equipped with a host of safety features. Besides getting the ABS with EBD as standard, the Civic is also expected to get 6-airbags, Traction Control, Vehicle Stability Control and Hill Start Assist (HSA). These features may be offered in the top-of-the-line variant.
While the new Honda Civic is expected to come with a starting price of Rs 15-16 lakh, it may rival the existing premium sedans such as the Toyota Corolla Altis, Chevrolet Cruze, Volkswagen Jetta and the new Skoda Octavia in the D-segment.
