Mahindra Launches Scorpio Facelift at 9.97 Lakh | 10 Must Know Things About New Mahindra Scorpio

Homegrown automaker Mahindra & Mahindra has launched its much awaited Scorpio facelift at an attractive price of Rs 9.97 lakh. The newly launched Mahindra Scorpio Facelift comes with a tuned mHawk engine. Mahindra Scorpio had been one of the top sellers from the Mahindra stable and the newly launched Scorpio facelift will further strengthen Scorpio’s position in the segment.

The popular mid-size SUV – Mahindra Scorpio has finally received its much-needed update. The new 2017 Mahindra Scorpio facelift is a major update from the automaker since the launch of current-gen Scorpio in 2014. The update that has come after a gap of three years will not only offer a fresh new appeal to the new Mahindra Scorpio but will also boost its place in the segment.

Here are 10 most interesting things about the new Scorpio facelift that you must know

As per the report, the Mahindra Scorpio facelift is the ‘most-powerful Scorpio ever’. The refreshed iteration of the popular mid-size SUV – the 2017 Mahindra Scorpio facelift gets a bouquet of cosmetic changes that add more muscle to the new Mahindra Scorpio facelift and makes this beefy mid-sized SUV more imposing.

Overall design

As per the report, the 2017 Mahindra Scorpio facelift mostly remains similar to the outgoing model. The new, facelift variant of the four-wheeler gets several exterior changes that are easily identifiable.

New names for the new Mahindra Scorpio facelift variants 

The Mahindra Scorpio facelift’s gets a completely new makeover. All the variants of the Scorpio facelift have been completely overhauled. The new variant also gets new names. The main variants of the new Scorpio Facelift will come in four options- S3, S5, S7, and S11. The S11 will be the top-of-the-line variant of the Scorpio.

Under the hood of New Mahindra Scorpio Facelift

While the base model of the new Scorpio facelift – S3 will get Mahindra’s older m2DICR engine, rest of the trims S5, S7 and S11 will carry the tried and tested 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine.

The 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine will come tuned to produce two different powers. While the base variant will churn out a 120 bhp and 280 Nm of peak torque the powerful version of the new Scorpio facelift will produce 140 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque. S3 – the base model of the new Scorpio with the older m2DICR engine will produce 75 bhp.

Transmission of the new Scorpio facelift

As per the report, the S3, S5, and S7 variants of the new Mahindra Scorpio facelift will come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The S7 will have two gearbox options of 5-speed manual transmission and the 6-speed manual transmission while the top-of-the-line S11 will get only the 6-speed manual transmission. Mahindra has not introduced the automatic option yet in the new Scorpio but it is being speculated that the company may introduce the AMT variant of the new Scorpio later.

New Colour introduced

Mahindra has introduced a new colour in the 2017 new Mahindra Scorpio Facelift. Apart from other colour options, the new Scorpio will also get an all-new pearl white colour option. Now consumers will have more colour options in the Scorpio to choose from.

Better and more appealing exterior

The newly launched mid-sized SUV now comes with a new 7-slot grille. Chrome accents have been beautifully merged with the new grille. The new Scorpio facelift gets revised headlamp cluster and larger foglamps. Redesigned bumper add more muscle to the newly launched all-new Scorpio and additional bumper cladding add to its outlook.

The new Mahindra Scorpio gets new ORVMs with built-in side turn indicators, Besides the alloy wheels, the facelifted variant of the Mahindra Scorpio gets newly redesigned chrome tailgate appliqué. The new sleek red lens LED tail lamps adds to the attractive appearance from the rear side of the Scorpio.

Plush and intoxicating interior 

With plush interiors, the cabin of the 2017 new Mahindra Scorpio is more intriguing. The new Scorpio gets faux leather wrapped steering and gear lever and faux leather seats. Besides the new roof mounted sunglass holder, the new Scorpio has been equipped with more storage spaces.

The facelift Scorpio will come with 6-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The system will support Bluetooth connectivity besides compatibility with CD/ DVD/ USB/ Aux. The GPS navigation system in the new Scorpio will support 10 languages. The mid-sized SUV will also get steering mounted audio, driver information system, auto window roll-up and cruise controls.

Quieter Cabin

Mahindra has claimed that it has worked on the Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) level of the updated Mahindra Scorpio facelift and the newly launched Scorpio, will, therefore, offer quieter cabin.

Better Safety features 

Mahindra has made the new 2017 Mahindra Scorpio facelift a safer four-wheeler. To offer better safety to the passengers the new Scorpio has been equipped with anti-lock braking system (ABS), dual front airbags and collapsible steering column. The Scorpio also gets panic brake indication, side intrusion beams and features like engine immobilizer to enhance the safety features in the mid-sized SUV.
