Norton Motorcycles to Rival Royal Enfield in India With Kinetic Motor Royale

Birmingham based Norton Motorcycles are all set to enter the Indian market in a strategic partnership with Kinetic Motor Royale. Two Norton bikes will be launched in India which will rival the new Royal Enfield Continental GT 650cc. This comes at a time when Benelli is also launching mid segment cruiser to rival the 350cc Royal Enfields and we think the manufacturer will finally have equal competition. The newly launched Royal Enfield Interceptor 650cc will also be challenged by Norton’s very own Commando 961.

Two Norton Bikes Will Take new 650cc Royal Enfields Head On.

According to the partnership between Norton Motorcycles and Kinetic Motor Royale two Norton bikes will be launched initially. Both these bikes share the same 961cc engine that makes 80PS of power. One of these motorcycles is a Cafe Racer named Dominator and the other one is a street bike named Commando 961. The interesting thing to see is Royal Enfield just launched two similar motorcycles like the Norton bikes at EICMA named the Royal Enfield Continental GT and Interceptor 650cc.

The Continental GT is a cafe racer while the Royal Enfield Interceptor is a 650cc Street style bike. The manufacturer was the only brand in the country that made low cost cruisers and managed to sell huge number of bikes but we think it is time that it was dethroned as apart from Norton-Kinetic bikes, Benelli is also readying the 400cc Imperiale which will take on Royal Enfield 350cc motorcycles.

Pricing of the Royal Enfield Challenger Norton Motorcycles.

The Norton Motorcycle’s partnership with Kinetic Motor Royale means that they will be able to assemble or build Norton motorcycles in Kinetic’s Ahmednagar facility in Maharashtra. This will help them to price their bikes close to Royal Enfield bikes. The bikes manufactured here by Norton will be sold in India and will also be exported abroad.

The Royal Enfield 650cc Motorcycles will be sold at an estimated price of 3.5 lakhs in India and if Norton manages to price the Dominator and Commando 961 closely, we think it may have winners in its hands.
