WhatsApp Digital Payments Will Now Allow You To Send & Receive Money in India

Whatsapp, the modern era’s messaging app is launching digital payments in India for sending and receiving money. Whatsapp was launched in 2009 and since then it has changed people’s way of communicating over messages. Earlier, text message was everyone’s mode of “Chatting” but then came Whatsapp. After conquering internet messaging through a mobile app, What’s app launched audio calling and then soon came the video calling feature.

This time again, there’s a new feature soon coming to Whatsapp and it is specifically for Indian users. Whatsapp is moving to a completely different and an unbelievable level as they plan to launch digital payments in India. This would be something similar to Paytm and you’ll be able to send money to your friends and family through WhatsApp.

Whatsapp’s To Go The Paytm Way (In India)

Facebook owns the modern era instant messaging app, Whatsapp. Whatsapp is all set to launch peer to peer payments in India. As per the report, the peer to peer payments in India will be launched in the coming six months.

The company is planning to recruit a head of digital transactions who would be expertise in Unified Payments Interface (UPI), India’s biometric identity system (Aadhar) and BHIM which is a payments app. As per reports, Whatsapp’s co-founder Brian Acton said that the company is all set to enter digital payments. He also said that the company is in its early stage of investigating the upcoming feature of peer to peer payments.

WhatsApp Is The Real King

Whatsapp is a global messaging app and has over 200 million users in India. Whatsapp is one the most popular messaging service app in India. Whatsapp in India is used by everyone be it friends, business owners, professionals.

In the last few years, India’s digital payment gateway has gone to a new level. As per a Mint report based on data from India’s central bank, India’s total value of digital transactions have grown a lot since past few years. Last year the government demonetized currency notes of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 to demolish black money from the country. Due to this, people switched to digital payments because a shortage of cash was created.

Payment Interface In India

Unified Payments Interface is payment system launched by National Payments Corporation of India. The app has been built on UPI and can easily transact between the accounts. BHIM is one such application which was launched in December 2016 by India’s Prime Minister  Unified Payments Interface. Almost 12.5 million had downloaded the app by February.

But now with the digital payment feature in WhatApp, people in India are surely going to enjoy it.
