Tata Motors has tasted success recently with its new cars like the Tata Zest and the Tata Nexon and now has the credibility to take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the Hyundai i20. Tata Motors’ Zest is eating into the sales of Maruti Suzuki Dzire already and the premium hatchback too could hurt both the Baleno and the i20. Tata is readying a new premium hatchback which will take on these two cars that rule the segment in India. The new car codenamed X451 will have dimensions larger than the Baleno and stying like the Tata Motors’ Nexon.
Features of the new premium hatchback by Tata Motors.
The new premium hatchback by Tata Motors which will compete against the Maruti Baleno will be built on an all new Advanced Modular Platform. The AMP platform will be used in all future small cars from the Tata Motors including a sedan from the X451 premium hatchback. The styling cues will be similar to those of Tata Nexon which will help the car to stand out.
Tata Motors has always outdone Maruti and Hyundai in terms of space and we will not be shocked if the X451 offers roomier cabin than the Baleno or i20. The engine options are largely unknown for now but keeping in mind Tata’s eagerness to make India an all-electric car market by 2030 expect a hybrid or all-electric variant of the premium hatchback. Tata Motors’ famous driving modes will be a definite part of the package.
Launch Date and Price of Maruti Suzuki Baleno rival
The new premium hatchback will reportedly go on sale in India in 2019 but a concept version might be showcased at the Auto Expo in 2018 in Delhi. The Auto Expo is to be held in Delhi sometime in February-March 2018. Since Tata Motors will be positioning the X451 Premium hatchback in the same segment as the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the Hyundai i20 expect similar prices for the car but it is a good chance the Tata Motors car will undercut the other two by at least 30,000 Indian Rupees.
