Dharamshala International Film Festival to be held on 2nd November 2017

The Dharamshala International Film Festival (DIFF) in Himachal Pradesh is back again for its sixth iteration on the 2nd to 5th November 2017. The festival that was conceptualized by filmmakers Ritu Sarin and Tenzing Sonam of White Crane Films as a means of bringing quality contemporary, independent cinema to the culturally diverse location of Dharamshala. With their venture DIFF (Dharamshala International Film Festival), they want to fill the cultural gap small towns face in terms of cinema and arts.

In its first iteration, the DIFF garnered enthusiasm as it screened the Nawazuddin starrer Miss Lovely. In 2013 the Rajat Kapoor directorial AANKHON DEKHI was screened that won the national award following year. Apart from these many films from a wide variety of countries find a place in the event. Films from countries like USA, Sweden, Russia are a regular at the Dharamshala International Film Festival. This year the limelight is on the Huma Qureshi starre Highway directed by Umesh Vinayak Kulkarni. Other films to be screened include ‘ A Korean In Paris’ ,’Apprentice’, ‘ and a Himachali film ‘ Mane De Phere’.

Informal conversations with the Organizers of Dharamshala International Film Festival 2017

The organizers of International Film Festival taking place in Dharamshala (Himachal) were very clear about the agenda of DIFF. They wanted to bring a sense of art and culture from all around the world to a town with absolutely no cinema houses. They believe that the makers of these films having an informal conversation with the audience is what the true movie-going experience is about.

Notable personalities @ Dharamshala Film Festival

Quite a number of notable personalities will make way to the DIFF (Dharamshala International Film Festival 2017) this year 2017. One of these is Naseeruddin Shah. He is probably the most iconic name in the Bollywood industry who has done a fair share of indie films and been a conceptual part of it. Apart from Shah, Saibal Chatterjee, the film critic will also attend the festival.
