Chandigarh records Rs 100 Crore Gold sale on Akshaya Tritiya

Chandigarh has made a new record as the city beautiful recorded gold sales of over Rs. 100 Crore in just 1 day on the occassion of Akshaya Tritiya 2015.

This was revealed by various jewellery showrooms in Chandigarh who had geared up for this auspicious occasion in advance. Gold sales in Chandigarh increased by 40% on 21st April, 2015 and have recorded the maximum sale in a single day. It was not regular business for jewellery shops since morning as people thronged the shops and showrooms throughout the day. It became hard to attend customers at various jewellery shops.

One reason for such a response was the low gold prices. Gold prices have remained between 25,000 to 28,000 throughout the season and even now the cost of 22 carat gold in Chandigarh was Rs. 26,000. People buy gold on the eve of Akshaya Tritiya as it is considered auspicious and is said to bring wealth. Majority of customers who bought gold in Chandigarh were those who have weddings in their home for the coming winter season of year 2015-2016.

Approximately, there are 350 jewellery shops in Chandigarh. It has been first time in Chandigarh that the gold sales have reached such a high on any particular day. Let’s see how the gold prices change in the upcoming season.
