Mandeep, whilst looking for a rickshaw to earn his livelihood, decided to opt for e-rickshaw as it is environment friendly, saves diesel cost as well as the time wasted standing in queue to refill LPG. The idea of providing internet service came up to him when he saw youngsters discussing the importance of having 24X7 internet access. With everything going digital, internet has become a necessity. Plus, with demonization kicking in, money is not as important as internet. Be it net-banking, work, bill payment, shopping, mobile recharge, etc, everything is dependant on the internet.
How Has it Helped Chandigarh?
Most of the customers being youngsters, sharing wifi password with them makes it more convenient for the travellers to clear payment and dues on the go. This has not only attracted more commuters but has also helped Mandeep carve a niche for himself. He has become popular and people praise him for providing this one of its kind service. For instance, Mandeep stated that once he was taking his customer from IT Park and the customer had to sent an urgent official mail. But because of poor connectivity on the phone, the customer felt helpless. Mandeep came to the rescue and shared his wifi password which helped the customer sent the mail within seconds. Mandeep feels respected when people thank him and many customers have noted his number so that they can avail the service provided by him.
Future Plans for this e-rickshaw in Chandigarh
Mandeep wants to create an app where anyone can book an e-rickshaw at any time. He also wishes to get more e-rickshaws with free 4G Wi-Fi so in order to get more and more customers. If in case he has the required capital, he would like to add on the following serves in his auto rickshaw.
