Administration declares 7 Jan 2015 as public holiday in Chandigarh

Chandigarh Administration has finally declared 7th Jan 2015 as a public holiday in Chandigarh on account of Gurpurb for Guru Gobind Singh ji’s birth anniversary. This decision was taken after Chandigarh Samuh Gurudwara Parbandhak Sangathan announced that they’ll celebrate Gurupurab in Chandigarh on 7th Jan 2015. This sikh committee manages 45 gurudwaras in Chandigarh including those in Sector 34 and sector 8.

Earlier, 5th Jan 2015 was announced as a Public holiday which was later rectified as 6th Jan, 2015. But now the final declaration from the UT administration confirms 7th Jan 2015 as a holiday. 5th and 6th Jan 2015 will be normal working days.

All government establishments which fall under UT Administration will remain closed on 7th Jan, 2015. This news was also published on the first page of Chandigarh Tribune dated 2 Jan, 2015.
