Chandigarh MC to Hold ‘Swachh Market’ Contest For All Market Associations in Chandigarh

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan | The Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh has announced that it will hold a contest called ‘Swachh Market’ for all the market welfare associations. The contest ‘Swachh Market’ is based on the same lines of ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ which was launched by the Prime Minister of India. This ‘Swachh Market’ by the Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh is a welcome step to make the people of the city enthusiastic about keeping their surroundings clean.

What is the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ contest ‘Swachh Market’ in Chandigarh all about?

The Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh has decided to hold the ‘Swachh Market’ contest along the lines of ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ in the second week of November among various market welfare associations of the city. The contest is being held to promote the cleanliness in the city of Chandigarh which is already considered the cleanest in the entire country.

The Municipal Corporation thinks that this will increase the zest of the market welfare associations to keep their market cleaner than the other ones in the city. This sense of competition is to benefit the cleanliness in the city of Chandigarh on the lines of ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’. The results of this ‘Swachh Market’ contest will be declared in the end of November. The Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh said that the markets will be rated in terms of general cleanliness, waste management and awareness.

Chandigarh is already one of the cleanest city in India.

Though the city of Chandigarh is already regarded as one of the cleanest cities under ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’, it is still a welcome move by the Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh to conduct a competition among the market welfare associations called ‘Swachh Market’. We at Chandigarh Metro think that all the cities in the Indian Country should learn a thing or two from Chandigarh. The matter of cleanliness is as important as other issues in the country and should be regarded as a high priority matter. The Prime Minister of India had launched the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhihyan’ two years ago in a bid to make the country as clean as its western counterparts.
