Traveling by the Chandigarh-New Delhi Shatabdi Express will be a whole new experience now. The train that plies between the city beautiful and the national capital has been upgraded to offer a memorable experience to the passenger. Indian Express had reported that the passengers who travelled by the upgraded train gave it a thumbs up.
The task to upgrade the Shatabdi Express that connects New Delhi and Chandigarh had been assigned to the Ambala division by the Northern Railway. Train number 12045 and 12046 has been upgraded at a cost of around Rs 2.2 lakh per coach.
Upgrades in the Chandigarh-New Delhi Shatabdi Express
The train that runs between New-Delhi and Chandigarh has been upgraded to ‘Gold standards’. Some of the visible changes that have been included in the renovated Shatabdi Express are – braille signage and posters of tourist attractions in these two locations, automatic door controllers, redesigned walls.
Train number 12045 and 12046 (NDLS-CDG Shatabdi Express) is one of the fastest trains on the route. The train covers a distance of approximately 245-km in about three and a half hour. The new look of the renovated Shatabdi Express 12045/46, which runs between the two destinations, has been welcomed by the passengers.
In addition to the upgradation of the train, several improvements have also been initiated to offer a different and pleasant experience to the passengers while travelling. There will be more changes in the coming days on the basis of passenger feedback.
Better facilities, better experience
For luggage rack and roof, coaches of the upgraded Chandigarh-New Delhi Shatabdi Express, now get anti-abrasive paint (Non-slip). The restrooms have been equipped with odour controllers and automatic hygiene in addition to good quality locks. The lavatories also get modular liquid soap containers. For better hygiene, the toilets are equipped with personal seat cover dispensers and dustbins have been installed just next to the door. Odour controllers have not just been added to the toilets but have also been installed in every compartment for better fragrance in the coach.
The department has not just upgraded the interior but has also refurbished the exterior of the coaches. The exteriors of the renovated Chandigarh-New Delhi Shatabdi Express have also been redone. To maintain the elegant look and to protect the exterior paint, the updated coaches have been coated with an anti-graffiti material.
Better safety for passengers
Posters have been installed in the coaches that contain numerous helpline numbers. Safety measures in the Chandigarh-New Delhi Shatabdi Express have also been upgraded for passenger safety.
