Travelling Between Chandigarh and Patiala to Become Costlier | Toll Tax of Rs. 65

Now travelling in between Chandigarh-Patiala will be smooth but costlier. NHAI (National Highway Authority India) & Punjab Government is all set to collect toll tax for the newly built toll plaza & four-laned highway between Chandigarh-Patiala. And the same will become operational from next month as expected by PWD (Public Works Department) of Punjab Government.

From last few years working for the four laning of NH 64 has been in the process. But now the reports of its completion till next month has been sent to NHAI for the better connectivity between Chandigarh-Patiala.

Chandigarh Patiala: Toll Tax to be Operational at NH 64 Next Month

As per the notice rolled out by Punjab Government via PWD to NHAI, it has been stated that the four-laning of Chandigarh-Patiala Highway (NH 64) is on the edge of completion. And the same will be completed by May after which it will be handed over to NHAI. After its handling, toll charges on the highway between Chandigarh-Patiala will become operational.

There have been 2 toll booths on the stretch- one is between Zirakpur & Patiala that will charge around Rs.30, whereas another one is on Rajpura-Patiala that will charge Rs.35.

A Russian Construction Company has executed the work of this 50 km project for the betterment of travelling on Chandigarh-Patiala Road. Almost 600 crores have been spent for the same that will also reduce the travel time between Chandigarh-Patiala. The newly build road connects- Chandigarh, Malwa, Sangrur, Fazilka, Bathinda, Mansa & some parts of Haryana as well.

New Flyover to come up in Chandigarh-Rajpura Road near Chattbir Zoo

On the other hand, NHAI has also been planning to construct a new flyover near Chhatbir Zoo to make it easy for the commuters between Zirakpur & Rajpura. Chandigarh Airport road intersects National highway near Chhatbir Zoo & connects with Chandigarh-Ambala Highway. In the current scenario, traffic police or traffic lights use to manage the traffic but it has been an accident-prone area. That’s why NHAI has studied the need & initial research of the flyover has been done. But the proposal is still pending to be sent to the concerned ministry.

Hope to see this flyover soon, as to make it more saver for the commuters from nearby areas of Chandigarh to come to the city.
