Banks Will be Closed on These dates in Chandigarh in 2018

Leaving aside the national holidays and weekly offs there are about 40 Bank holidays in Chandigarh in the current year. Though it is going to be a year full of holidays for the banking staff but it appears to be a nightmare for the Chandigarh residents. With the financial necessities and limits on ATM withdrawal, the long list of Bank holidays may make it tougher for one and all in the city when it comes to cash in hand.

About 40 Bank holidays in Chandigarh

Though one quarter of the current year is already gone and as per the report, about 10 Bank Holidays in Chandigarh have already gone, there are still about 29 holidays for the banking staff that are still on the cards. It has been reported that there were around 39 Bank Holidays in the union territory of Chandigarh. Out of which most of the government offices are closed on the popular national holidays which include – the Republic Day on 26 January,  Independence Day on August 15 and Gandhi Jayanti October 2, Holi and Diwali that festivals that fall on different dates every year. The complete list  for Remaining Bank holidays in Chandigarh for the year 2018

In the month of March, the Banks will be closed on the 29th and 30th due to Mahavir Jayanti and Good Friday. In the month of April, apart from Sundays, the bank will remain closed for two days – the second and the fourth Saturday of the month that falls on April 14 and April 28 respectively.

This holiday pattern will remain same for the next three months – May, June and July. The banks will remain closed on the second and the fourth Saturday of every month that falls on May 12 and May 26, June 9 and June 23, July 14 and July 28 respectively.

With major festivities on the cards Banks in Chandigarh will remain closed for four days in the month of August, October and November while September and December will have only three holidays each when these banks will remain closed.

The list of holidays in the above mentioned months include  the second and the fourth Saturday on August 12 and August 25, October 13 and October 27, November 10 and November 24 while in the months of Septemeber and December, the banks will remain closed on September 8 and September 22, December 8 and December 22. All the major festivals in August, September, October, November and December include  Independence Day, Eid al-Zuha, Shri Krishna Janmashtami, Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, Durga Puja, Deepawali, Guru Nanak Jayanti and Christmas that fall on August 15, August 22, September 3, October 2, October 19, November 7, November 23 and December 25 respectively.
