A Unique Fashion Show by Differently Abled People in Chandigarh

In one of its kind initiative, UT Administration for the very first time has organised a fashion show for differently abled people in Chandigarh. On 23rd January 2017, UT Administration provided a stage to 152 differently abled people to explore their strength. The fashion show was named as ‘Pride Fashion Show’ and differently abled people of different age group set the stage on fire with their performance in Chandigarh. They show was organised by the UT Department of Social Welfare, Women and Child Development.

Highlights of the Pride Fashion Show

Pride Fashion Show has really proved that the differently abled people are also equally talented as all the other people in the world. The main aim of the event was to provide a platform to the differently abled people to showcase their talent.

  • The participants have been categorised into 5 different categories- visually impaired, orthopedically impaired, mentally retarded or cerebral palsy, hearing impaired and others.
  • Participants were from the age of 7 years to 50 years, and were divided into 3 different age groups i.e 7-17 years, 18- 30 years and 31- 50 years.
  • They even danced on the different Bollywood songs.
  • MP Kirron Kher was also present in the event to encourage the participants.

Apart from the city beautiful Chandigarh, many applicants from all over India also participated in the fashion show and walked the ramp with full confidence.

It was really a very kind initiative from UT Administration for the special citizen of our society. We hope administration to organise more of such events, so that these special people can also get recognition in our society and everyone can appreciate the talent within them.
