We bring a good news to all the aspiring dentists of Chandigarh as they can now take admissions in MDS courses at PU Dental Institute starting this year.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, approves to start six speciality courses at the Panjab University’s Dental Institute. The admissions in these 6 new courses will begin from April and the prospectus-cum-admission forms can be downloaded from the institute’s official website.
The 6 specialities courses to start in PU dental
- Periodontology
- Prosthodontics and crown and bridges
- Oorthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics
- Oral and maxillofacial surgery
- Oral pathology and microbiology
- Conservative dentistry and endodontic
Seats availability for MDS courses @ PU Dental Institute
As per the sources, for five courses i.e Periodontology, Oorthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics, Prosthodontics and crown and bridges, Conservative dentistry and endodontic and Oral pathology and microbiology there will be 3 seats each while for one course i.e Oral and maxillofacial surgery there will only 2 seats available for the students.
Earlier, inspite of writing to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare several times to begin courses postgraduate courses in six streams, the Masters course for Dental Institute PU for the session 2016-17 had got disaffiliated. But now, the ministry has directed Dr Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences and Hospital, Panjab University, to begin with the admission process for the upcoming sessions of the new implemented courses.

Each seat of all new six postgraduation courses at PU Dental Institute has been estimated as Rs4.5 lakh, which comes out to Rs 68 lakh annually. The cost incurred from these courses will finally result in the whopping revenue earning of Rs 2 crore by PU.
