Unexpected Rain Showers Cool Down Chandigarh, Punjab & Haryana

Chandigarh witnessed heavy rainfall yesterday giving respite to all from the scorching heat. The weather has become so pleasant that you can plan out a drive uphills or go for a romantic date.

The year 2017 had just completed three months till date and the weather is already play hide and seek with the people of North India. Within less than 40 days of time, the March month has recorded heaviest snowfall in the hilly regions of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jammu & Kashmir while plains like Chandigarh, Punjab & Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi recorded hottest days in 7 years.

The reason for rainfall

Recently, the heavy downpour has hit the north India along with thunder and storm. After very hot days, yesterday’s rain spell was a boon for the people of Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali. Though it was cloudy throughout the day and drizzled by the evening, the heavy rain lashed the tricity by the midnight, recording 0.2 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours. The unexpected showers in the northern regions was due to the Western Disturbance over the Western Himalayas creating a cyclonic circulation in Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi NCR.

The prediction for rainfall

The weather in Chandigarh is already cloudy today and the Meteorological Department has predicted light to moderate rainfall in the next 48 hours in Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana. It will be accompanied by thunder and lighting along with strong winds. Apart from this, the maximum and minimum temperatures for next few days will see a drop of 3 to 4 degrees.

The rain spells have given you reason to indulge in comfort snacking of Chai- Pakodas, steaming hot momos and super slurpy soups that you can either enjoy at the local vendor nearby or at home. Even those who love to booze, can enjoy the rainy weather with the pegs of Old monk rum, boiled eggs and some spicy tikkas as you won’t be able to relish the combo in the coming hot & humid months.
