UT Government Launches Chandigarh Smart City Card | Check Details Here

The UT Government launched the Chandigarh Smart City Card in the city yesterday that is on 12th December’ 2017. Launching the Chandigarh Smart City Card, the UT Administration aims to promote digitization and launch of the Smart City Card is a similar step to promote and indulge people in a cashless society. On December 12, VP Singh Badnore who is the Governor of Punjab as well as the UT Administrator launched the Chandigarh Smart City Card along with Chandigarh MP Kirron Kher, Mayor Asha Kumari Jaswal, UT Adviser Parimal Rai as well as Deputy Commissioner Ajit Balaji Joshi.

Chandigarh Smart City Card | Registrations Begins From Today

The recently launched Chandigarh Smart City Card will be put to use from 25th December’ 2017 so as to mark the Good Governance Day. The idea of Chandigarh Smart City Card was formulated by the Deputy Commissioner Ajit Balaji Joshi. This Smart City Card will be used to make the payments at the Government offices apart from the designated merchants which have been established within the Chandigarh city.

The registrations for the Chandigarh Smart City Card will be commencing at all the Bank Of India branches from today that is 13th December’ 2017 and at all the Sampark Centres from 15th December’ 2017. The Chandigarh Smart City Card is the first of its kind to be launched in Chandigarh and is a commendable move to promote the digital mode of payments. The residents can either apply for the Smart City Card at the online portal of the Bank of India or at any Sampark Centre.

About Chandigarh Smart City Card | How To Use It

The Chandigarh Smart City Card can be used for making online payments at the Government offices within the City. It is necessary for the city residents to have an Aadhaar Card in order to register for the Chandigarh Smart City Card. The initial cost to get the Chandigarh Smart City Card made is Rs. 500 out of which Rs. 150 are the card making charges and the rest Rs. 350 can be used to make the payments. No other fee for the subsequent recharge of the card will be levied.

The maximum recharge limit of the card is Rs. 50,000. A PIN is required only if the payment is more than an amount of Rs. 2,000. The Chandigarh Smart City Card can also be utilized to attract the lowest merchant discount rate of 0.25 % at the Government offices as well as 0.50% at the retail outlets.
