Varnika Kundu Chandigarh Stalking Case | Accused Vikas Barala May Be Arrested Today

In the Chandigarh stalking case, it was reported that Vikas Barala son of Haryana BJP president Subhash Barala may be arrested. The Chandigarh Police have summoned Vikas Barala and has been asked to appear before the court at 11 am today. Vikas Barala has been accused of stalking and harassing a woman in Chandigarh last week.

It has been mentioned in the reports that son of the head of the BJP’s Haryana unit and his friend allegedly harassed Varnika Kundu after stalking her. Varnika Kundu is a daughter of a Haryana IAS officer and was returning back from home in her car when she was almost waylaid on the roads of Chandigarh.

All about Varnika Kundu stalking & harassing case?

Varnika Kundu, daughter of a senior Haryana IAS officer, was driving back home from Chandigarh when Vikas Barala and his friend started following her. Varnika Kundu alleged that at a point they almost backed her into a corner and came out of their vehicle towards her car. Varnika Kundu somehow managed to pull away from the horrifying ordeal. Varnika, after sensing that someone was following her, called the police while she was being chased around in Chandigarh.

The Chandigarh police managed to catch hold of the accused who was later identified as the Haryana BJP president’s son. After being arrested on Friday night Vikas Barala and his friend were granted bail within few hours of the arrest. Varnika Kundu’s post on Facebook about the whole incident went viral. Varnika Kundu, in her complaint, alleged that Vikas Barala and his friend followed her car for several kilometres in his white SUV on the Chandigarh roads. They blocked her way and even banged aggressively on the window of her car. Though the accused were arrested immediately from the spot but were released within hours as they were charged with stalking – a crime where bail is possible.

Varnika Kundu has stated that the accused Vikas Barala and his aide Ashish stalked her on the Chandigarh roads. Varnika Kundu also said that Vikas and his friend waylaid her and came out of their car with the intention to pull her out of the car or they get inside her car.

Vikas Barala summoned by Chandigarh Police

Earlier, the CCTV footage was reported to be missing. But the case took a different turn after the police stated that the chase has been recorded on CCTV cameras on the route and is available. Following the CCTV footage Vikas Barala, has been summoned by the police. Vikas Balrala has been charged with stalking a woman and chasing her on the streets of Chandigarh. The Police has summoned Vikas Barala to join the investigation but when no one accepted the Police notice the Police had to paste the notice outside his home. It was reported that he may face arrest if he doesn’t appear by 11 am.

BJP leader Subhash Barala’s take on the case

Since the Varnika Kundu stalking and harassing case hogged the headlines the chief of the BJP in Haryana had been incommunicado. The stalking and harassing case was registered in Chandigarh. Finally, Subhash Barala, while denying any attempts to influence the police investigation also stated that Varnika Kundu is like his daughter and that there will be no pressure in the case from BJP. It was also reported that Subhash Barala has assured that the proceedings in the case should be done per law and that the investigation is progressing per law.

Haryana BJP Chief’s another relative accused of kidnapping minor girl

As per a NDTV report, Haryana’s top BJP leader Subhash Barala’s relative Vikram Barala has been accused of kidnapping a minor girl from a Haryana village beside charges of an assault case against him. Subhash Barala’s son Vikas Barala has already been summoned by the police for harassing and stalking 29-year old Varnika Kundu and has been asked to appear before the court today.

Vikas Barala, son of the BJP Haryana president is also facing allegations of attempt to kidnap in Chandigarh. BJP Haryana president Subhash Barala’s relative Vikram Barala and his cousin Kuldeep Barala had allegedly kidnapped a 16-year-old girl from a village in Fatehabad on May 7 with their friends. Taking quick action against the accused the police rescued the minor girl. The locals had blocked the Hisar-Chandigarh highway, demanding strict action in the case.

Chandigarh stalking case to be raised in Rajya Sabha

The Varnika Kundu stalking and harassing in Chandigarh incident became a national issue after Varnika Kundu’s Facebook post went viral. The Police department in Chandigarh came under fire over allegations of a lapse in the probe. It was reported initially that the CCTV footage has been missing, though the police later stated that they have recovered the CCTV recordings and will investigate the case with an open mind.

Amidst Varnika Kundu of Chandigarh stalking case being the centre of media glare since last week, it was reported that Union home minister Rajnath Singh is likely to make a statement in the Rajya Sabha. According to sources Rajnath Singh, Union home minister will make a statement on the alleged stalking of Varnika Kundu by Vikas Barala Haryana BJP president Subhash Barala’s son.
