Chandigarh Woman Dies After Falling From Auto | Eye-Witness Say She Was Pushed From Inside

A 25-year old Chandigarh woman, Rajni died after falling from a running auto-rickshaw on Hallo Majra light points. The incident happened on Monday night. Rajni was a resident of Behlana, Chandigarh and was residing with her 26 year old husband, Erric Masih who is a taxi driver.

As per sources, the auto driver fled from the accident spot.

How The Incident Happened

Rajni’s friend dropped her at Sector 45 from where Rajni used to take an auto every day to go home after office. She hired a shared auto and took a seat in that. After travelling for few minutes, Rajni fell off the moving auto. As per Police’s statements, some passersby informed the auto driver that a woman had fallen from the auto but the auto driver did not pay any heed and fled away from the spot.

Rajni sustained critical head injuries and was immediately rushed to GMCH-32 (Government Medical College and Hospital) where the doctors declared her brought dead.

The police have started questioning the other auto drivers and are trying to identify the auto driver. A senior police officer said that there is a strong possibility that there were two men in the auto-rickshaw. They might have misbehaved with Rajni who was the only female passenger in the auto.

A case has been registered under Sections 279 (rash driving) and 304-A (causing death by negligence)  at the Sector-31 police station in Chandigarh.

Husband Refuses Accident Theory

Rajni’s husband has totally refused the police’s theory that it was an accident and Rajni fell from the auto-rickshaw.

Erric, Rajni’s Husband said that Rajni’s head did not bang on the divider as the blood was found away from the divider. He says that the driver did not lose the balance of the vehicle and he is sure that his wife was pushed out of the auto-rickshaw.

Erric was in tears and said that he had a word with her wife Rajni around 7:45 pm.

The cameras which are installed near the Tribune chowk could not record the footage of the auto-rickshaw.

Post-mortem report says that Rajni dies of head injury. The case is still open and police are trying to find the actual cause and whether something happened inside the auto or was it an accident.
