Chandigarh being one of the four selected cities to have undergone the implementation process of having revised fuel rates in the city on a daily basis has decided to incorporate this tech-savvy feature to depict the revised rates that would fluctuate on a daily basis for the residents to have a hassle free fuel filling sessions for their vehicles.

No sooner than the decision came forth to have daily revised rates in the city beautiful, employees and authorities at the fuel stations were bewildered as to how to showcase the fluctuating rates on a daily basis. Coming forward as a solution to the problems that were perplexing many, LED boards now would be installed at heights at every fuel station in the city in order to go forth with successful implementation of the decision taken up by the higher authorities like Petroleum ministry and Government of India.

The salient features that the decision of installation of LED boards to depict fluctuating fuel prices on a daily basis are :

How would the process workout?
The process methodology simply involves the implementation of a flowchart on a daily basis. This incorporation would involve man, machinery and tool inputs at every stage. So, here’s a step-wise flowchart algorithm that one would closely observe to get hands on the decision imposed.
- Update of Fuel dealers about revised rates by Oil Marketing Companies (OMC’s) by 8 PM daily
- The revised rate law to be enforced post midnight on being decided
- Dealers to display proposed rate post-midnight hours by 8 PM itself.
- The dispensing machines to be tuned to revised rates post-midnight only.
- No showcasing of international rates on LED board to be done.
- The revised rate to be calculated on the current international rates only
- The entire calculation part to be executed by Petroleum Ministry only
- New rate to consider taxation, point of supply etc., as per state rules
- Pilot project to be implemented in Chandigarh first and then across other areas
The project got a nod from the leading firms like BPCL, HPCL IOCL, etc who owns more than 95% of the total 58000 pumps in the country. The system sounds logical and well reasoned and implementation soon shall engulf other selected areas like Vizag in Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry, Udaipur in Rajasthan and Jamshedpur in Jharkhand.
People have genuinely welcomed the move, especially the petroleum local associations who find the decision logical and apt. Nonetheless, the revised rates would be enforced post-midnight hour only but to be decided a few hours earlier itself is a comparison factor that has been left to take into account by local residents of the city.
As far as Chandigarh is concerned, we have 41 fuel stations and installation of this tech-savvy feature would surely enhance the workability of the system.
