A Mobile Shop Owner Shot Dead in Busy Market Area of Baltana

In a yet another horrifying incident of murder in Chandigarh region, three bike borne youth fired several rounds of gunshots from a close proximity to shot dead a mobile shop owner in Baltana area.

Police officials suspect that it is a case of a well planned pre-determined murder which got executed on the grounds of personal enmity.

About the Incident

Three unidentified youth riding bike openly gun fired and shot dead Ajay Jain, 35 years of age in a busy market place in Baltana near Chandigarh.

  • Ajay, the owner of a mobile shop, Jain Mobile Centre in Baltana was targeted by these youth when he was closing down the shop after the day’s work.
  • Ajay, lives in Modern Enclave in Zirakpur and was on his way back home when the brutal incident happened.
  • Out of the three youth, one of them who was wearing a helmet fired two rounds of gun shots in the deceased’s head at around 9: 50 pm, leaving him in a pool of blood on the spot.
  • The victim was immediately rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Sector 32, Chandigarh where doctors declared him brought dead.

 What Police Officials have to say?

The assailants are absconding post the incident and police officials are on a hunt to track down the murderers of the heinous crime they committed. As per what officials say, Police was informed at around 11:00 pm about an hour later when the incident happened. Investigations are on to track the murderers down and CCTV footage of the area is under scrutiny which could give possible leads for the same.

Statements of the eye-witnesses of the shocking crime are being recorded and police suspect that the assailants are closely related to the victim on grounds that they simply knew the timings of executing the crime to attack the victim.

An increase in the number of murders and suicides in the past one-quarter of 2017 in the city beautiful Chandigarh is a cause of worry for many. Imparting a tag to the city of being unsafe for common public, necessary steps need to be taken care of for thoughtful prevention of such incidents which is making the city residents lose their self-morale and trust on the security by police personnel in the city.
