Chandigarh | Panjab University Student Commits Suicide, Body Found Near Railway Tracks

Chandigarh | A student of Panjab University in Sector 14 of Chandigarh committed suicide. According to sources, his body was found near the Baltana railway crossing in Zirakpur. It is assumed that he went to the railway line to commit suicide.

The Panjab university student who committed suicide has been identified as Tonish Kumar, a resident of Sector 28 Chandigarh. The police said that Tonish Kumar’s body was found lying near the railway crossing number 238 in Baltana.

Panjab University’s Student Found Dead Near Railway Crossing

The police found Tonish Kumar’s body lying near the railway crossing. They said that Tonish Kumar had jumped before the Kalka-Howrah train that passes through Chandigarh. The Kalia-Howrah train passes through Baltana crossing at 1 AM.

The GRP (Government Railway Police) police station was informed about the student’s body by the Railway officials. As soon as they received the information, they rushed to the spot.

How Was The Panjab University Student’s Dead Body Identified By The Police

The police officials identified Tonish Kumar through a mobile phone which the police found near the railway tracks. Tonish Kumar’s body was identified by Ram Chander, Tonish’s father and a former Chandigarh police head constable.

The cops are puzzled on the fact that how did Tonish Kumar reach the railways tracks. Tonish Kumar’s family members are totally shocked when they got to know about their son’s tragic death.

The SHO of GRP (Government Railway Police) police station, Chandigarh said that they will be handing over Tonish Kumar’s to his family once they get over with the investigating. The victim has his parents and two elder sisters at his home. Tonish Kumar’s body was then taken to Civil hospital, Sector 6 Panchkula.

The reason why he committed suicide is still not clear.
