Chandigarh | 24 Year Old Bike Rider Killed on Sector 35 Road | Hit & Run Case

Chandigarh witnessed another hit and run case. Last week, a traffic policeman was hit by a speeding car and was immediately rushed to PGI. This week, a 24-year old man died in a hit and run case. Back to back hit and run cases have definitely forced the Chandigarh Administration to look into the matter and hopefully, they would come up with a solution to curb such cases.

How the Accident Happened

On Monday night, a 24-year-old died in a hit and run case at the dividing road of Sector 35/43 in Chandigarh. The 24-year-old has been identified as Prashant Yadav. Prashant Yadav, a native of Uttar Pradesh was riding his motorcycle when he was hit by a car from the rear side.

The incident happened around 12:30 am and the driver of the car ran away. The impact was so nasty that Prashant’s head hit a tree on the road and got smashed.

Safety Gear Couldn’t Save

Prashant Yadav was wearing a helmet but the impact was such that he suffered severe head injuries. Prashant was immediately rushed to PGI Chandigarh and was declared brought dead. Prashant’s colleague Salman Ahmed was riding his bike and was just behind him. He reached the spot and was stunned to see Prashant lying on the road in a pool of blood.

The police inspected Prashant Yadav’s motorcycle and said that he was hit by a car from the left side of the rear portion. Prashant was married and he’s survived by his parents. The SHO of Chandigarh’s Sector 36 police station said that Prashant Yadav was going back to his home from his catering company in Sector 38 Chandigarh. Prashant was rushed to PGI by the police in a police gypsy where he was declared brought dead by the doctors of PGI.

A FIR has been lodged and a case has been registered at Sector 36 police station against the driver of the car who hit Prashant. Prashant’s family has been informed about the incident and they are expected to arrive today. His body will be handed over to the family after the post-mortem.

Though a FIR has been filed but the police need to be proactive in finding the driver of an unknown vehicle so that justice is served to Prashant’s family.
