Chandigarh International Airport is all set to start night operations of the flights from year 2019. From next year, Chandigarh International Airport will make the runway operational for the nights as well where airplanes will be able to take-off and land during the night hours. As per the officials, the operation will be started after the completion of Phase III expansion of the runway that is to be completed by August 2019.

Chandigarh International Airport to get Operational for Night from 2019
After the opening up of the International Airport in the year 2015, Chandigarhians were waiting for it to get operational in the nights as well. From 2019 onwards, Chandigarh Airport will be completely certified as International after its renovation of the runway & its operation for night flights as well. Multi-phase plan for making it beneficial for the passengers has been going on & will come to end by Feb 2019.
A runway will be completed with the approx cost of Rs. 450 crore, which will have a physical length of 12,400 feet. And the runway will then be able to suit big Boeing like 787, 777 or 330, also including long-haul wide-body Boeing.
Till date repair of runway & operational flight from Chandigarh Airport
For the expansion & repair of the runway, Chandigarh International Airport got close form 12 to 26 Feb 2018 as a part of Phase 1 expansion. Now it has been going through the second phase of runway repair in which the runway of the airport will be expanded from 7200 feet to 10,400 feet. And in the third phase, the recarpeting & its length will be constructed to 12,400 feet so to make it certified as for the International Airport.
And with this certification of Chandigarh International Airport, we hope to have some more flights to foreign locations like- UK, Australia, Singapore, New Zealand & much more in the year 2019.
