Chandigarh Ranked 11th Cleanest City of India | Swachh Sarvekshan Survey 2017

Chandigarh has been placed at No. 11 position in the 2017 list of cleanest cities of India as per the survey of ‘Swachh Sarvekshan 2017’. The government of India has revealed the list of cleanest cities of India 2017 and Indore (Madhya Pradesh) have been placed at No. 1 amongst the 434 cities of India. And the city that has been termed as the beautiful city of India, Chandigarh bagged the 11th place in 2017 list of cleanest cities in India.

According to the survey result of ‘Swachh Sarvekshan 2017’ conducted by Ministry of Urban Development, Indore (MP), Bhopal (MP) and Vishakhapatnam (AP) are among the top 3 cleanest cities in India for the year 2017.

Chandigarh-the 11th cleanest cities of India 2017

‘Swachh Sarvekshan 2017 survey has been released and with the final list of cleanest cities in India, we got to know that our Chandigarh has been in the 11th position. Although it’s quite shocking for all of us to see Chandigarh in such down ranking that too in the cleanest cities in India 2017 list. It has been a subject of concern for all Chandigarhian that the city is even not ranked under the top 10 list of cleanest cities in India 2017.

The criteria for the ranking of 2017 included 45% marks for cities becoming open defecation-free and solid waste management, which includes collection, transportation, sweeping and garbage processing. Other 25% includes the field inspection and the last 30% was the citizen feedback.

In 2017, almost 10 Lakh citizens of Chandigarh has provided with the feedback on the sanitation for the survey of the cleanest cities in India.

Chandigarh placed 2nd in 2016 cleanest cities in India

Earlier in 2016, Chandigarh was ranked at the 2nd place as the cleanest cities of India. In the previous year, Mysuru (Karnataka) topped the list of cleanest cities of India. And then Chandigarh grabbed the second position after Mysore.

In 2016, 73 cities were surveyed for the list across India and Chandigarh was positioned at the second place.

And in 2014, Chandigarh was at No.1 position

Previous to that, in the year 2014 Chandigarh was at the top of the list of cleanest cities in India. According to the survey conducted by Ministry of Urban Development in 2014 Chandigarh ranked at No.1 cleanest cities of India. As the administration of Chandigarh has maintained its greenery and energy to the fullest.

In just 3 years, Chandigarh has slipped drastically from the list of cleanest cities of India. From the No. 1 position 2014 to No. 11 in 2017, it’s 2 years and Chandigarh has even not in the list of top 10 cleanest cities in India. We hope in 2018 survey of cleanest cities of India, Chandigarh once again gain the No. 1 rank.
