Haryana will soon be home to a 16 lane highway. yes, you read that right – a road with 16 lanes – 8 on each side. Just imagine the width of the road.
With the upcoming project of constructing 16 lanes on the 3 km stretch of national highway, Haryana will become the first ever state in the world to have the widest and the shortest NH. Not just in India but this highway will be the widest one in the entire world.
16 Lane National Highway in Haryana
The project of constructing the 16 lanes highway in India will be done on the Sohna Road in Gurgaon. It will be the widest national highway ever made and with more to and fro moving area for vehicles, these roads will make your journey the shortest one.
The construction work is undertaken by the Haryana Public Works Department and will begin construction from next month. The total cost of this project is pegged at around Rs 700 crore and would take at least 2 years to complete.
8 lane highways are common in countries in USA and Europe. However, this 16 lane highway will be one of its kind and it will be a pleasure to drive on this stretch in Haryana. It is assumed that this road stretch at Sohna Road will become a centre of attraction once the 16 lane highway comes into presence.

Another good news for the residents putting up in Gurgaon, Sohna Road is that there will be metro services operational alongside 16 lanes on the 3 km stretch. The proposal has been submitted to the authorities for making metro live, which is an extension to the metro line that ends at the HUDA City Centre to Subhash Chowk. Every metro station on this newly built up stretch will have proper parking facility to accommodate at least 500 cars in one go.
