In one of the tragic rape cases in Chandigarh, a local court in the city sentenced 10-year jail to a man for raping three and half-year-old girl. In addition to 10-years in jail, a fine of Rs. 1.05 lakh was also imposed on the convicted uncle.
Three and a half-year-old rape victim traumatized
As per the complaint, the three and half-year-old girl (victim) was unable to deal with the ordeal. The traumatized victim initially felt a sense of uneasiness and later she narrated the whole incident to her father.
Acting on the complaint, Chandigarh’s local court sentenced the accused to 10-year jail for raping the three and a half-year-old girl. Immediately after sensing that his daughter has been raped, the father of the victim lodged a complaint at the Chandigarh, sector 36 police station.
Uncle gets 10-year jail for raping 3-yr-old in Chandigarh
The case was registered at the Sector-36 police station on the complaint of the minor’s father this year in March. The police had registered the case and booked the accused under Section 376 (punishment for rape). Rahul was also booked under Sections 4 and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
In addition to the 10-year jail, it has also been reported that the court of additional district and sessions judge imposed a fine of Rs 1.05 lakh on the convict. The convict, 27-year-old Rahul is a resident of Kajheri village. Out of Rs. 1.05 lakh that has been imposed on the convict, Rs. 1 lakh will be given to the victim as compensation.
Shockingly, the convict was a distant family member
It is indeed shocking that the convict is a distant family member of the victim. According to the report, victim’s father who works as a scrap dealer, sensed something amiss when he noticed his daughter shivering.
The victim described to her father how a distant relative of theirs would touch her private parts inappropriately and would also make her sit on his lap. The father of the victim established that his three and half-year-old daughter had been raped. It was later learnt that the girl was raped by a distant family member who used to visit them frequently.
