Chandigarh Declared Second Cleanest City of India in 2016 Swachh Bharat Survey

Chandigarh has ranked on the second spot in the list of cleanest cities of India according to 2016 Swachh Bharat Survey. The news of Chandigarh being the second cleanest city of India has brought joys among residents and everyone who is associated with the beautiful city of Chandigarh in some way or the other. Swachh Bharat Mssion was started in October 2014 by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and it is in 2016 that a survey was conducted to list the top 10 cleanest cities of India under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan.

The list of most cleanest cities in India was declared on 15th Feb, 2016. M Venkaiah Naidu, theĀ Union Minister for Urban Development tweeted the results on his official Twitter handle. here are the results of the cleanest cities of India as per 2016 Swachh Bharat Survekshan.

Top 10 cleanest cities of India (2016 Survey)

  1. Mysore (Karnatka)
  2. Chandigarh (UT)
  3. Tiruchirapalli (Tamil Nadu)
  4. New Delhi Municipal Council
  5. Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh)
  6. Surat (Gujarat)
  7. Rajkot (Gujarat)
  8. Gangtok (Sikkim)
  9. Pimpri-Chindwad (Maharashtra)
  10. Greater Mumbai (Maharashtra)

Earlier, Chandigarh was considered as the most cleanest city of India. Swacch Bharat survey had a lot of factors related to cleanness which made Chandigarh rank at second position for the year 2016.

The survey was carried by Quality control of India and results were declared based on factors such as solid waste management, household individual toilets and public and community toilets, city level sanitation plans etc. A total of 73 cities of India were chosen in the first phase, hence the ranking is these cities only. Other cities like Noida will be in the second phase.

Although, Chandigarh has dropped from 1st position to 2nd position but it still comes as a great news that our city is the second most cleanest city of India. Do not forget to share the news and contribute your bit in making Chandigarh the most cleanest city of India in the next survey. Cheers!
