Admission Procedure in Chandigarh Schools | Eligible Candidates List Out

The admission procedure of top schools in Chandigarh has reached second phase where list of eligible candidates has been announced. Although the new session in all schools begins from March but to reduce huge rush during the last moment, UT Administration has advised all schools to begin their admission process from the month of December. After receiving the duly filled forms, now it is time for the draw of lots in Chandigarh. But before that every school puts up a list of eligible candidates.

Number of Applications Received by Each School

There are a number of schools in the city beautiful Chandigarh, but the race to get their child admitted in the best schools make parents go crazy. There are limited number of seats in entry level classes but the good schools receive as many as 10 times the number of applications.

  • St. Kabir Public School received 1500 applications for just 90 seats in nursery class.
  • Sacred Heart located in Sector 26 received 650 applications for 200 number of seats in LKG.
  • Similarly Carmel Convent School received 900 number of applications for 120 seats in LKG.
  • 700 applications were received by St John’s High School for 160 seats in KG standard.
  • Sector 32 St Anne’s Convent received 1848 applications for filling of just 225 number of seats in LKG.
  • For Nursery admission in Delhi Public School, 879 applications were received for 150 seats.
  • Whereas Strawberry Fields in Chandigarh received 500 applications for 160 seats in KG.
  • Bhavan Vidyalaya Junior in Sector 33 received 1945 application to fill 100 number of seats in pre- nursery.
  • Gurukul Global School has been allotted 54 seats in pre-nursery and they received 250 application for the same.

This shows how tough the scenario is for the parents in Chandigarh to get their child admitted in the best school of the city.

Draw of Lots

After the list of eligible candidates is out, each school finalises a date for the draw of lots for the filling of the general seats by the eligible candidates. The dates for the same are between 17th January 2017 to 22nd January 2017. Once the lots have been drawn, the parents will get time to submit the admission fee by February. Thereafter, their ward can start his school journey from the month of March.
